| ^^ ITS parent here who definitely considers the teacher training program a huge draw. Not just early childhood but EVERY classroom has two full teachers. The classroom resident, in our experience, has extensive life experience and a BA and in some cases even a Masters - just not yet in teaching. Very few other schools - except with partnership with teaching residency programs like Urban Teachers and Center for Inspired Teaching - have two teachers in each elementary classroom. To bring down the teacher:student ratio so much allows incredible support for all kids. |

I found the qualitative report another interesting source of information about the classroom experience.

http://www.empowerk12.org/parcc-schools.html can answer this for you. Among white students, the charter schools that do better than IT among white students are Latin, DCI, Two Rivers, and BASIS. But the kids at IT do fine and I would be fine sending a kid there. The charters that have higher scores for black students in grades 3-8 are several campuses of DC Prep and KIPP, Friendship Chamberlain, DCI, and Early Childhood Academy. |
Basis is lower than ITS. Composite scores: Hearst 91.4% Stoddert 89.7% Stuart Hobson 89.7% Oyster 87.9% Lafayette 85.8% Mann 85.7% SWW High 85.2% Janney 85% SWS 84% Murch 82.7% Key 82.3% Latin middle 82.1% Brent 79.6% Two Rivers 79.4% Deal 78.7% ITS 77% Basis 76.9% Mundo Verde 68.6% Creative Minds 66.7% SWW @ Francis 65% Wilson High 64.8% YY 63.8% |
Yup. Pretty much. You have to take anything said about a Tier One with a grain of salt because they attract a league of haters almost immediately. |
| Regarding teachers, anyone aware of a story involving a Hearst teacher having an affair with parent? |
This is an Inspired Teaching thread. |
These numbers are great! Why are people down on Its? It can’t be because they are popular. |
Oh yes, yes it can. |
