Sewanee . . . thoughts?

They seem to want to get married and have children ASAP. Not that there is anything wrong with that - they just do not seem committed to a career.

I think it is a place for people who are not that bright but need a degree. Just saying.

Nice, in shape, pleasant, courteous, have a modicum of brains, not thots, want to procreate - sounds to me sewanee is doing something right.

We visited twice with my DC who was also interested in Environmental Science and he came very close to attending. (Excellent merit award, BTW.) It is an outstandingly beautiful campus for the outdoorsy type. Probably fairly conservative by LAC standards, but seemed fairly open and accepting. I would suggest visiting and deciding for yourself on the LGBTQ issue. I think your daughter would be accepted, but I wonder if a school that small that is pretty isolated may not have a diverse enough social scene.

Is it considered prestigious in the south?

One of my coworker's kids went there. Kid loved it. Smart kid. Now in a Masters/PhD program. Anyway, my kid is far too liberal it. My coworker really wants my DC to look into it. I don't think DC will, though. Maybe another one of my DCs will check it out, though.

I wouldn't say so. I'm from the South and I think most view it the same way as most of those posting here. Good college in a pretty spot for kids who can afford it.
