McLean vs. Arlington Schools

Love it that someone gave the North Arlington snobs a taste of their own medicine. I've read their posts and they had it coming.

It is an FCPS internal task force. I am guessing that the Haycock community is not involved since it is an internal task force.

The pp who attended the meeting stated that he/she was not a task force member and that proposals were being circulated in the community. It doesn't sound like an internal-only thing.

I am the PP. It is an internal FCPS Level IV task force, specifically looking at overcrowding at some AAP centers, including Haycock.

Overcrowding has been a problem in Fairfax much longer than in Arlington:

So are they, or are they not involving the community in the process?
How are you involved?
What can I do to ensure that my kids are not pushed out of their school?

They are circulating the three recommendations to various communities asking for feedback.
I simply provided feedback based on the data that was shared with the recommendations.
It is my understanding that students currently in Centers would be unaffected as they would be grandfathered.

An "internal taks force" circulating recommendations to "various communities" does not sound like a very transparent process, especially when the information you gave from them was incorrect about which schools have LLIV at present. DO you know what the "various communities" are and how they were chosen? Do you know if this task force will actually make recommendations or issue a report? If so, when? Do you know if there will be an opportunity for public comment on the report?

If you are aware of the research on teens and their sleep patterns, Arlington moved their high school start time later consistent with the research. Fairfax refuses or is unable to due to their bus schedules:

That's for Arlington. ACPS is Alexandria City Public Schools... Did you just make a typo, or did you link to the wrong thing? I'm guessing typo given the thread... Arlington Public Schools is APS, not ACPS.
