How the hell can Google read my mind???

It’s like a ouija board.

It wasn't working properly - it should have the ability to fold down all the way flat, but for some reason it was stuck in a half folded position. I sat on it and read emails on my phone. I didn't complain, I didn't ask for help, I didn't talk about it, I didn't google it.

Just now on facebook I got an ad for fold up/fold out futons. Never saw one before today.

So when something like this happens to me I wonder if there were futon ads all along, but it wasn't on my mind as an issue so I never noticed. Now, I've got a futon issue, so I'm noticing.

Now the tin foil hat joke ain’t so funny. Google really is reading your mind. To collect data on the avatar research for humans to use in outer space once Tesla is in mars.

They have the data, the dna from your testing kits, your preferences and habits, your voice, and your face from your camera phone for 3D printing.

You heard it here first.

OK this gets creepier and creepier. I just got out of my bed, where I've been surfing FB. I went and put on some all natural essential oils- rose and lavender. Got back on computer, scrolling down... There's an ad for all natural perfumes. WTF. No I didn't read it anywhere or search for it.

I'm telling you it's scary.

Google IS trying to read everyone's mind who uses its services/products. It could read some part of your mind at some point in time say t1, whereas it estimates your prospective associated thought based on billions of users[past] thoughts analysis at time t2 before you think about it and provides results you want and the time gap between the t1 and t2 varies from milliseconds to years. Its estimation accuracy varies and improves with time/evolution. The more algorithm runs on everyday users data, the more it could understand human beings and their needs/happiness/sufferings/wants better than humans themselves in future.

The human mind is a mysterious entity with thoughts and consciousness at different levels among different sections of the human race. But people who are living nearby will be having relatively more overlapping of thoughts/needs/desires compared to those who live far away. Today's globalization reducing that barrier of far away to the global village.

Ex: if people in Hyderabad city are searching google for symptoms/cure/prevention of the certain communicable disease then google algorithms could predict the spreading of disease before public health authorities could realize.

Same goes with Road Traffic prediction, based on a number of androids/google maps users on road.

Google/any other IT company which have billion of users have the advantage of prediction of human actions/needs, based on billions of users data analysis. The potential impact of such algorithms on the particular individual might be minimum but the collective impact on people belonging to certain state/race/ethnicity is huge. It could influence(sometimes decides) the election winners, reduce/increase hate crimes, increase/decrease corporate products consumption, peoples opinion/decision making on any issue and their thought process.

Human beings are relatively conscious enough to understand and respond to demands of ourselves and other persons/society, who are in the same band of consciousness. We are not absolute conscious(very few might be) and could not keep track of self-awareness and objective awareness all time.

The day when algorithms understand the relative consciousness of human beings better than we could understand(aware) of ourselves (collective consciousness) then Google reads mind with better accuracy and all time. It might lead to the complete surrendering of our half-existing free will.

These are not conspiracy theories. This is factual evidence. They own us.

We have been living in Orwell's 1984 for many years now. If you are too programmed, as the powers that be want it, then you will always bring up bogus shit like tinfoil hat, conspiracy theorist (term coined by CIA to dismiss critical thinkers) etc.

The fact of the matter is that Big Data is pushing hard for transhumanism.

Seriously no one in this thread has ever hear of Elon Musk's desire to connect the human brain to internet via a chip inside your skull?
Shocker!

Artificial Intelligence, Boston Dynamics, Google's algorithms, GPS tracking...

But yeah, they couldn't find Bin Laden... needing dialysis... in a f.ucking cave... give me a break!

Ever heard of Sofia, one of the most notorious AI robots, claiming her desire was to destroy humans?

Also, your phone's microphone tells Google A LOT.

If you're using Google, you've given them permission to have the microphone on your phone on and listening at all times -- I know, because I used to work for Google.

If you're having a conversation with your spouse and mention a keyword, there are algorithms that will brings those to your chrome or google and then you go to Google to look up that word right after you've just said it to your spouse... it's from the microphone on your smart phone.

If your phone hears a word in the background on your tv or radio and then you immediately go to Google... same thing.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but making sure everyone has asked Verizon Wireless to remove its supercookie. You can google this, and then you will probably get ads for cookies.

That process can be very complex, but there are theorists who develop sophisticated analytical methods to aggregate information. That's why Google knows what you're really likely looking for.

Google is not the only organization that uses information theory.

On the other hand, there's so much information, and so few "viewers," that in the end - nobody cares what you're doing on the Internet.

This was before all the sites updated to let us know our data is being hacked and soles to any slack jawed, money grubbing yahoo.

Results inconclusive. It came up third in my list, and I've never looked for capers before; however, Google does know that I read your post right before initiating my search.

I just tried it and got
what are capers
what are carbs
what are the tony awards
what are the 10 commandments

Nothing to do with anything I was thinking about. Agree that the first must be because I had this page open.

Crap! 5 years later and I also got what are capers as my fourth suggestion!

Oddly, I googled what are capers recently, so it was #2 on my list, after what are the seven wonders of the world.
