But we know they do. In the not-too-distant past the CO explicitly talked about discussing these issues with MCEA.

Who is "the CO"? MCEA sent a message expressing they were not in agreement with this solution, so...?

But they wouldn't agree to support the alternative.

We could have done full days on March 20, April 15, June 18, and then sought a waiver for the rest.

June 18 is a full day but they should do a half day on March 20 (because of a religious holiday) and a full or near full day on April 15. By near full they could make the entire week of April 13-17 1 hour early dismissals so the days aren't super short but the 5 combined hours early and maybe a little beyond the regular dismissal time can be used to keep their grading time.

High school teacher here - at a W school - I think we had two or three half days added last year. During that period where those days fell into the following week, the highest number of kids I had in any one of my classes was five. Each of my five classes has at least 30 students enrolled. The days were and will be pointless.

I posted before that it’s totally pointless for HS students who have already taken exams, have summer jobs to work pr summer programs. Plus 20 min classes are worthless. A lot of my kids teachers have already said they will be watching movies or TV so I’m sure my kids won’t want to go.

If it was a normal week I'd consider it but I've got a first grader and juggling two half days and a random Tuesday off sounds terrible, we're sticking with camp.

This is my take on it. I don't care what happens tomorrow and they can extend to July 1 if they want. Unless one of my kids has a scheduled test, which is highly unlikely, our last day will be June 18. MCPS had plenty of options to prevent this insanity and they failed on every other option. Their incompetence is not my problem.

My plan for last day is June 12 as it doesn’t seem there will be any meaningful instruction after that. But the plan to extend to June 25 got me nervous about missing too many days. If tomorrow school closes for snow, we may get extended to June 26.
