If you are the OP, and claim you are "busy" but you respond to each poster. Does actually sound like a consultant or journalist. |
My ds said it was sort of 'cringe'. |
I have a senior at a private school. They use the word cringe a lot. If your son thinks it’s cringe, make sure he doesn’t submit his college post so that everyone at school and their parents can see it. He isn’t friends with all those kids, in fact there is a very good chance there are a few kids he can’t stand. All of the people on this thread are so disingenuous. The reason kids post isn’t to update friends. It’s to show off to their classmates and others where they got in. By posting, they are playing the game. |
| Yea, this is cringe. I feel sorry for OP. |
My oldest didn’t post 2 years ago. The majority though. He is at an Ivy. I’m curious to see if my senior will post this year. I will say nothing about it, of course. My kids volunteer where their friends are headed. They are happy for them. It’s an exciting time for them. |
| my ds is at an all-boys school and 90% submit info to the decision account. they're going to really good schools, they're proud. plus the caption that their friends write up are so funny, insider jokey, and honestly sweet. I love them. |
Gonzaga, right? I think the write-ups are so funny. |
+10000000. A private school recruiter, perhaps |
Not OP but can confirm I engage in plenty of in person contact, group chats, and volunteering but also take a peek at the college decision pages. |
OP could be the one complaining on this site's 'website feedback' forum about posters from other regions (outside the DMV) on the Colleges and Universities forum. They have issues. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1300409.page |
Why need to know who went where? If curious about the list of colleges to where students from a particular school is attending (your kid's hs), the school has that info that is available. Have your kid contact "friends" at high schools they don't attend to find out where "friend" Jane from preschool is going and your kid can fill you in, if your kid and you care so much. These adults are waaaay too nosy. |
Why does it matter if someone gets the information from an instagram page versus the school’s website? Back in the day, in our town it was published in the local paper. Those of you so bothered by this can’t really give a good reason and it’s weird that you’re so upset. I also have trouble believing you yourselves aren’t taking a glance at the pages too! |
I’m not the OP. I wouldn’t bother to start this thread, but I also don’t like the sanctimonious and denigrating posts and don’t think that looking at public instagram pages is stalking. Why would a journalist be interested in decision instagram accounts? |
There have been many reasons already listed on this thread. The high school your kid attends has the info of colleges students at that high school.will attend. Why do you need to know who is going where? Why can't you look at the summary of the colleges the class of '26 from Gonzaga or whatever other HS are going to once it's available? Journalist, writer, consultant weird creepy. It's not "back in the day" btw. Get out of your own high school days. |
They are bored trolls who get off on bullying people online. |
