So you’d support a CEO that had never worked for a corporation if your stocks depended on it? |
Not according to the Orange Guy. |
It wasn’t about admissions. |
Being a POS might be an impediment. |
I am the PP. I was being sarcastic. In this day and age, it wouldn’t surprise me if a non-educator was named president. If that happened, then we could assume that DEI was alive an well still,… they wouldn’t be getting the position through merit. |
+1 also “disabling DEI” is not a law. |
I am glad my current UVA student was there under Jim Ryan’s leadership at least for some time. Fingers crossed the next president doesn’t mess things up. |
It wouldn’t happen immediately, but there could be a mass exodus of faculty and staff if things get bad. That could erode the core product and might lead to rankings taking a big hit. In other words, things will be fine, could get bad, could take decades to recover from. This is uncharted territory. |
My DS got rejected....who has over 1500 sat and over 4.6 GPA. just disappointed |
Not law, Executive Order. They are not the same. |
Yikes. I’m glad this happening now before my 2026 grad applies. We are OOS and no way will pay $$$ for right wing propaganda |
You have to follow right? Just like we had to follow Biden’s stuff so yeah if he is choosing not to follow or finding ways to avoid following then he needs to go. If staff doesn’t want to be there then they are free to leave but doubtful. So many academics need jobs so I am sure many would love to teach there. |
Go back to Liberty and try a new ice cream truck or something. Let the adults take care of UVA. |
Running a large university is similar to being a CEO. Many academics do, unfortunately, not have that type of experience. Mitch Daniels was not an academic before he became president of Purdue. |
One of a university president’s main jobs is fundraising. You have to be likable. Nobody likes Cucinelli. The advancement folks must be reeling. |
