Exactly. I think he was an OK guy that was past him prime, and he was a boring centrist. What I wouldn’t give to have that again.

By any objective, he was in cognitive decline.

I voted for Biden, but I don't miss him. I definitely rue the missed opportunity he had to step aside and let a real primary happen.

Biden was a weak POTUS candidate on the national stage when he was in his prime as evidenced by his history of immediate failures when running for POTUS prior to 2020.

Just about anyone could have and would have beaten Trump in 2020 considering Trump's unpopularity at the time and somehow Biden was the best nominee money could buy. I wish he hadn't sought a second term as well but the primary cause of the Dem 2024 POTUS election debacle was the nomination of Biden in 2020.

Who would have beaten Trump in 2020?

reminder we’re in this mess because voters voted for Trump in the primary in 2016, then voted him in and the general election. Could have had someone reasonable like John Kasich. But no, voters voted for somebody because he was on the Apprentice. So thanks Trump voters!!!

The Trump supporters who fail to see him for who he is are indeed most to blame. That being said; Trump had zero chance of winning in 2020 against just about anyone with a pulse and he was still an easily beatable POTUS candidate in 2024. He has Biden to thank for his 2024 victory. Dems will have Trump to thank for their election successes in 2026 & 2028.

Actually, no. I saw democrats for what they were. They wanted to hold on to power so bad that they did things like try to have him removed from the ballot in three states. Set five criminal and one civil lawsuits against him. Raided his house with a swat team. Arrested a former president. Tried to tie him up in court during campaign season. Made sure the worst incompetent group of Secret Service agents was guarding him.

No, after that and many other examples of lawfare, reverse-racism and shenanigans, I was going to vote for Trump and make sure the corrupt undemocratic DNC was not going to get what they wanted.

Election racketeering, hush money, falsifying business records, sexual assault, insurrection, mishandling classified documents, blackmailing Ukraine for dirt on his political opponent, stiffing contractors and leaving them penniless, discrimination against black renters, crooked business ventures like Trump University…yet somehow, Trump’s lifelong pattern of crime is all the fault of a vast conspiracy of judges and Democrats.

Tinfoil hat DARVO logic at its finest.

Yes, that usually happens with older people in their 80's. He still ran a good and decent administration though. Now compare it on any metric to what we hae now and it still come out on top.

Sure. But Democrats decision to run a rapidly declining 83 year old in a change election was a disaster for America. Absolutely everyone at the DNC and the Democratic leadership needs to be fired to the moon for this decision. It will take a very long time for Democrats to regain trust for pushing a pathetic gerontocracy on the country.

Trump won because of the disastrous debate. When Donald Trump comes across as the smart one, you know Democrats have hit a profound low. And Kamala Harris, who couldn't even make it to the Iowa caucuses when she ran, wasn't going to save the Democratic Party from its stupidity and arrogance. Democrats are completely lost, alas. It's genuinely sad. Cynical progressive hacks are the worst political hacks, and that's what's taken over the Democratic Party. And they are idiots.

I agree with some of this but the biggest idiots in the group are those that it was wise to elect another 78 year old POTUS to serve a four year term after witnessing Biden's collapse last year. Can't fix stupid.

Anyone who voted for Trump in any election is stupid. He isn't fit to serve now, he wasn't fit to serve then. He's an incompetent fool. A cheat and a conman. The most corrupt POTUS ever. Anyone who ever voted for him is a complete tool. And we are all paying for it. FFS.

Exactly all of this. Truly astounding that Trump was elected again. He incited an insurrection. Beyond appalling that he was even able to run. And reminder to all who need it….he ran again to stay out of jail!

a statement like this is why we are doomed.

I honestly believe a segment of our society is living in a completely different reality.

Trump the great flip flopper is a completely addled mess. He isn’t a quiet mess behind the scenes, otherwise surrounded by highly capable people. People who are helping to guide the country in a positive direction.

He is an in your face ignorant, hot mess who is boldly and completely in our collective faces with his senility on full display.

Were he your crazy old uncle at the family holiday get togethers, prone to popping off, when the meds started to wear off, you’d pat him on the head; chain him to a chair and prop him up in the corner, put a bib on him, give him a plastic spork and a plate of lukewarm mashed potato’s and a sippy cup, and all would be good.

But this damn crazy, demented malevolent, old fool is the leader of the “free world” and he’s surrounded by downright scary and vile bootlicking odd ball, psychologically damaged and chronically angry misfits who have grudges to fix an axes to grind.

It’s like being stuck in the psychotic version of Revenge of the Nerds every single day. Basically we are all paying for the bullying and harassment that a bunch of deeply aggrieved and disturbingly dysfunctional overgrown men-children had to endure 20-40 years ago.

And there are people in this country, bullied and belittled, outsiders, who are deeply aggrieved and chronically angry who think they are actually going to come out on top. They have no idea that the boots are on their necks as well.

Or maybe they do know, being the boots they know after all, which means they like it; familiarity is comfortable,
so it feels like setting things right.

And be a lame duck for two years when the GOP controlled the House? Get serious, why would anyone do that?

So we had a shot at avoiding a second Trump Administration?

And because he was in cognitive decline and it was objectively wrong for him to try to run again? Have people memory holed the debate that brought us to where we are today?

Yes, the reality of the situation is that immigration is bad deal for me personally.

You mean you miss the puppeteering of Joe Biden by his cabinet the last 10 years.

You also miss the fact that Obama / Biden / UN Security Council never bothered to inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities and allowed their requests to be ignored or massively delayed by Iran.

So glad he is gone.
Glad Trump is here to clean up his messes.

List, please.

Gladly. There are a lot, but here are my top 6.

1. Afghanistan withdrawal. A total disaster. Not only did he leave the taliban with billions worth of weapons, but he changed the lives of 13 families forever and brought tens of thousands of migrants here with little vetting. Left a considerable amount of usable military assets behind for use by our enemies.
2. His deplorable immigration policies. He allowed, if not welcomed, over 10 million illegal aliens to our country, again, with little or no vetting. And, he lost track of tens of thousands of UAM that this administration is trying to track down today. This one issue has had major economic, humanitarian, and national security repercussions for years.
3. Record high inflation. It is finally starting to level out. Record prices. Gas, food, goods - everything. All due to his spending and policies.
4. Foreign policy. He emboldened Iran by not enforcing sanctions. As a result, they became more wealthy and were able to fund their proxies. Not to mention his unfreezing of $6B in Iranian assets, wonder what that money funded. It is questionable whether Oct. 7 would have occurred in Israel if Iran hadn't become so wealthy during Biden's presidency. And, Russia saw Biden's inept handling of Afghanistan and knew he could invade Ukraine with no repercussions. Never show weakness to your enemies.
5. Record federal regulations. He issued a ton of needless, wasteful regulations that cost taxpayers more than 1.5 trillion $$. Fortunately, many of these can be, and have been undone by the current administration, but to ignore his thirst for power by the federal government cannot be ignored.
6. Loss of trust in federal government. His weaponization of some of our most reputable agencies has caused a total lack of trust in this agencies. This will take years to repair. We now have the term “lawfare” as part of our lexicon.

Very well said. Added a few points in bold.

Great lists above.

Obama and Biden were F for foreign policy. Even CFR agrees.

We’ve now perverted the term “lawfare”, originally coined in 2001 by U.S. Air Force Colonel Charles Dunlap, to mean “any attempt to hold Republicans legally responsible for their crimes”. FTFY.
