This is a silly comment…my kid takes advantage of the city all the time…gets free tickets to professional sporting events, goes to restaurants, etc.

How is it a “stupid trend” considering some of the oldest, most prestigious universities in the country are located in cities.

New Haven... Baltimore... great cities! /s

Boston, Providence, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago

Of the cities you listed, only Boston is somewhat appealing. The others are crime ridden hell holes.

You sound like someone hiding in your basement watching OAN all day.

They aren’t crime ridden hell holes by any stretch.

I’ve never watched OAN in my life, but anyone with even a shred of common sense knows that those cities are indeed crime ridden. You sound like someone in utter denial.

New York City is one of the safest major cities in the US. Crime ridden? You want to start looking at cities down in the south.

Baltimore isn't even in the top 25. But Nashville, home of DCUM darling Vanderbilt, is.

Yes, that's another cesspool.

Such a "cesspool" that over 50,000 students applied this year.

So you believe the crime stats? Doesn’t bother you that cops & DAs barely notice most crimes in Blue cities these days?

Did you know that red states have higher per capita crime rates than blue states or blue cities? Because it's true.

That’s because Red states still care about catching & prosecuting criminals. Idiot. Blue states pretend the criminals aren’t there.

I live in Baltimore and I'm laughing at the list. I know a number of the other cities pretty well and there's no comparison. Trying to pretend Nashville or Denver or Salt Lake City are more dangerous than Baltimore is plain ridiculous.

I don't find Baltimore a dangerous city, FYI. IT's poor and complex and dysfunctional, yes, but most of Baltimore is not dangerous. None of these cities on the joke list are really dangerous place. They do have areas with higher crime but the violent crime in most instances is very much a case of people who already know each other.

So…I guess we just have to take your word for all this, because none of the published stats support your view.

Again…please go back in your basement and lock the doors.

Red states love their big fat orange criminals.

It would concern me if the crime stats are awful, because even the red states can't keep their cities looking good with the apparent corrections.

Curious why are you asking this question. The pro/cons list is easily available with an internet search. The decision comes down to if the person finds more value in the items in the pro column and can live with/thinks it worth the items in the cons column and that’s a personal evaluation. One kid might evaluate differently than another. Back to OP, what’s the background behind the question?

Hey…you are supposed to be hiding in the basement.

Why are you so scared?

Suburbs are death to the soul.

Cities are for hollow people who leech soul from others. People with actual souls don’t need others around to make them feel good about their lives.

People with actual souls also don't mind others around them for the same reason.

Like middle of nowhere small town experience?

Some kids prefer schools that are in rural settings. There are different experiences at different rural schools. I have one at a state flagship in the middle of nowhere, but huge campus and rah rah experience. My second committed to a SLAC also in a small town for the residential college experience and collegial atmosphere.
