How exactly are you measuring academic rigor and teaching excellence? |
This entire thread is stupid, just stupid. |
Sorry your kid didn't get in. |
| Absolutely |
| Williams grad here again. Hope that OP's nephew made the choice that seemed correct for him. Its certainly possible that either Williams or Bowdoin would ultimately be the better choice, but I don't think its possible to know now which one that is. In any event, if he chose Williams, I think he's made an excellent choice. It was a great place for me and hopefully it would also be for him. |
| Stanford grad here. I work with several Williams grads. Had to google Bowdoin. |
To be sure, many students at top colleges are not culturally-educated going in; but it takes a special type to proudly proclaim ignorance post-graduation. |
| Eh, what can I say. D1 recruit with 1210 SAT. Whaddya expect. |
From Stanford? An Olympian. |
| Middlebury is the Colgate of Vermont. Williams hands down most prestigious LAC. |
| To people who know and care (which is a small slice but matters to some), yes there is a substantial difference. |
| A majority of the country does not care at all. On Wall Street, either for most roles, Williams if smart enough for quant (likely not, because you’d be considering Princeton or Harvard). |
What the hell is AWS |
| DP, but Amherst Williams Swarthmore I think. |
They're looking for prestige among people who matter, not ethnic striver groups. |
