Are you putting all your friends through a political-purity test right now?

Dude, we are just polite. It is not OK to be gleeful when you are winning, especially in front of people you know aren’t happy.

I am pleased with the changes but I would never say so or indicate that in front of my lib friends, because that is rude and mean. I just don’t talk about it or say something noncommittal if it is brought up. I am sure some of them think silence means I am unhappy with Trump, and that’s fine for them to think but not true.

Are you honestly pleased that they are breaking laws instead of approaching their policy changes lawfully?

I am pleased that they are getting some movement on these issues. The legal issues will work themselves out. Nothing I am seeing is concerning to me yet. I am unconcerned about the government having my SSN, which they all do anyway (and China does too from data leaks.) I think a pause and reevaluation of spending is eminently sensible and some sunshine on what has been going on at USAID (and all other federal agencies) is long overdue. If it wasn’t done this way agencies would slow roll so slow nothing would get accomplished.

I work with agencies all the time and they don’t care much about the “laws” they enforce much of the time. Their timelines are often so ridiculous as to be laughable, I don’t want them scheduling anything. I am in the middle of a required regulatory reviews that is supposed to be done every 10 years. After 15 they finally opened it and I think it will take them 10 years to get it done, at which point they are supposed to be starting again but won’t for another decade. It’s not because they don’t have the staff either…the staff assigned to it has little to no understanding of how it works. Every time we meet I get to re-explain it to them as they are unaware of their own rules. Long past time to fix all this.

In short, you are OK with them breaking laws to implement their policies.

It is interesting how Donold is gutting our security apparatus by firing all these FBI people and asking CIA to self fire a half of the workers. Way to make leftists cry tears of joy!

Do you know the actual stats on those things? Not the ones Fox blows up your behind. I also believe in science and I think that if we’re going to divide sports we need to use science and chemistry. I also know that trans women in high level sports is so rare that we even know their name, and they couldn’t participate in most senior level events anyway. As a woman, I’ve had so many weiners exposed to me in the open and in text that the idea that a dude who wants to do that will feel the need to put on a dress to go into a changing room to do it is laughable. Everyone else uses stalls. And look at the border and deportation stats in recent years and remember that we had a bipartisan border bill that had widespread support until the current guy told his minions not to vote for it because he wouldn’t get credit, and figure out that MAYBE you’ve been had by a conman.

Why not own it? Why is it being "polite" to not acknowledge that you caused the harm they are facing now? You don't have to be gleeful per se, but yeah, hey Janet, I voted for this outcome. This is why it's good that it's happening. Own it.

Dp. I hope your liberal friends drop you. After all, why have liberal friends since you hate us so much?

You 1000% missed the point. Read that again...

No I cannot be friends with people who are actively joyful over the government being dismantled and who allowed some billionaires to convince them that fed employees like me are what is wrong with America.

They’ve made their values known and I can’t imagine many people would still be friends with someone actively cheering family’s economic destruction via decade-long career loss.

Also, I’ve noticed that it’s MAGA who get all defensive about people not wanting to be friends with them. They call us snowflakes but then pout and name call when their political beliefs have consequences. Sorry, but you are not entitled to have abhorrent beliefs and be free from social repercussions. You cannot force any of us to actually legitimize your viewpoint as belonging in civilized society.

Go read the writings of your dear leaders’ inspiration, atheist Curtis Yarvin. He supports a techno monarchy, destruction of democracy, and the genetic superiority of whites. JD Vance has cited him as an important influence.

As a matter of morality, I do not associate with people supporting this type of thinking (or too stupid to do enough research to understand they are supporting this).

Also, still trying to figure out how this squares with the Christian right, but I digress. Enjoy your false idolatry. And we all know if Jesus was at the border asking for asylum these people would be sending him away while pretending sitting in a building for one Sunday per week somehow absolves them of being horrible humans.

Byeeeee, no we don’t have to like you or respect you.

Basically, you’re asking people to go “zone of exclusion” so you can have a safe space on FB or at a dinner party while your president runs through the Nazi playbook.

Well it’s this kind of irrational thinking that causes me to hide my support for the President.

Nothing PP said is irrational or inaccurate.

No one is an American if they want the constitution to be ignored or gone.

Nobody wants your constitution gone sweetheart! We want to stop paying $50 million for condoms sent to Gaza.

This! What do you do with people so credulous that they believe this nonsense? And can ignore the EOs who vey explicitly attempt to negate the Constitution? I just don’t understand. It’s so frustrating.

Also how do they reconcile being mad about condoms in Gaza, but are ok with tax dollars (and potentially military force) being used to take over Gaza and turn it into another Trump investment?

I genuinely believe Trump could take a dump on his supporters faces and they would swear it tastes like chocolate.

I saw one Maga spreading reels screaming about Pentagon spending millions on sushi, not realising he was quoting Onion like source.

Do you need imbecile friends?

Defending USAID like every penny is well spent makes you look just as dumb, FYI. We all know it’s full of waste.

You are the dumb one citing fake “waste” stories to justify the executive branch totally bypassing the legislative branch.

Did you watch school house rocks as a kid? Are you aware there are 3 branches of government and what they each do?

Even if you like what is happening, you are literally saying that trashing the constitution is an ok means to the end.

As a federal employee I took an oath to protect the constitution. Morons like you want to destroy America because you lapped up the MAGA propaganda. Nice job whoring our constitutional protections to a group of billionaires who laugh about how the uneducated are supporting them.

You are an unpatriotic piece of trash.

Yes. Dumping everyone whose salary is funded by fraudulently stealing my taxes from USAID

Part of the work of protecting our Democracy is bringing moderate Republicans back to reality. That will never happen if Dems cut contract with them. Sure, it feels better to shout, “I Don’t Tolerate Fascists!!!”, but it’s not helping our cause. It’s more important to me to be effective than for me to feel good. YMMV.

Honest question - do you address this at all with them directly or just avoid politics altogether?

For a lot of people, it has nothing to do with political purity or feeling good shouting "anti-fascist", but truly about someone's character and how they respect others' humanity. I would love to bring us all back together but I also think that holding people accountable for for abhorrent beliefs is important.

The only consequence to voting Trump is a great and beautiful world where the snowflakes melt away on the their own…

You sound big mad that the executive branch is checking budgets.

Same here. And as upset as I was after Biden won in 2020, I didn’t wish harm to those that voted for him. These people have lost their minds.

I don't wish harm on Trump supporters, but it's coming to them whether I want it to or not. When you destroy the constitution and our democracy, harm is coming.
