We are not their savior. If you’re so concerned, adopt an Ethiopian. |
each agency. chaos. mre need to speak out, people need to understand that engaging in such projects is helping interests of US. the four years is going to be a blur of litigation, wasting precious resources for all, why I why??! but writing on this board to magas is doing nothing they can not comprehend. |
The taxpayers pockets that fund this nonsense. If these countries haven’t been able to figure out how to fight malaria on their own at this point, there is no reason for us to stop Darwin. 8 billion and counting is enough. |
We are not a Christian nation. We are a constitutional republic that is based on the constitution. You freggin moron. |
I’d say your mission isn’t working since we got TB, Covid and 8 million illegal immigrants in the last 4 years. Best to stop throwing good money after bad. |
Bad logic. The counterfactual to compare not to is what would have happened in absence of aid. There is a lot of evidence on that. It’s a great investment for US taxpayers; which is why it’s has strong bipartisan support for decades. |
You wish. |
It is because people on both sides make money hand-over-fist on these scams. Stop the gravy train. It will personally hurt you, but thinking big picture, this helps the people of the US. No need to be selfish. |
I used to love DCUM.
There were some really interesting, thoughtful posters. I jump in every once in a while, and all I find are trolls and maga idiots posting. It's sad. Yet another great thing ruined by MAGGOTs |
How so?? In fiscal year 2023, US of A disbursed $72 billion in assistance. It provided 42% of all humanitarian aid tracked by the United Nations in 2024. |
It got so angry with so many ad hominem attacks when they arrived. Truly a whole different level of discourse. |
8 million--wrong. 2008-2015 went from 12 million to 11 million (1 year GW, 7 years Obama) 2015 to 2020 went from 11 million to 10.1 (2 years Obama, 7 years Trump but Covid was also a factor for 2020) 2022 10.9 (added 800,000) 2023 11.7 (added 800,000) No figures for 2024 year but as of 2023 still below 2008 figure These are official estimates via Census Dept Turkmenistan is the only country in the world to have never reported a case of Covid, so you can hardly blame immigrants. The first known cases in the US involved recent travelers, and the first human-to-human case was the husband of the second known case in someone who had traveled. In 2023 there were around 9000 cases of Tb in the US. In 1993 there were 25,000. That's from the CDC. The Cato Institute--that very non-liberal, very libertarian entity--looked at disease rates (reportable diseases other than Covid) and immigrant populations. More most reportable diseases the correlation was 0. For Tb there were a very small correlation with unlawful immigrant population--but this is not affecting Tb rates among native born and legal immigrants. Violent crime has been decreasing since 1990. Highest number of border encounters ever was in 1985. It's strange how people can be inundated with the vision of things that aren't happening. One thing I know: a War on Immigrants will give us the same horrible outcomes as the War on Drugs did and continues to do. |
To be fair no allies were confident in the US after Trump remained relevant despite J6. No ally will trust the Trump administration with intelligence that reveals sources or methods. No ally will trust what Trump will or won’t do. |
It’s not working, but to understand why you have to go back 20+ years and look at what happened during the Bush II administration. China went into Africa (and the Pacific and parts of Asia) hard in the 2000s while the U.S. was redirecting aid and diplomatic resources to Afghanistan and Iraq. American diplomacy - and the access of American companies to critical minerals - never really recovered from that. |
