All inclusives are specifically make for LMC-UMC families. The truly wealthy have no need for them as they have their own private houses/villas with staff. |
Even blackberry farm is kinda lame once you have your own staff readying your house for you. I much rather sleep in my own bed that I know 1000s of strangers have never slept in before. I do not get the appeal of hotels unless you literally have no other choice. |
Well said, agree! |
I’m not snobby about AIs in the abstract, I just don’t think I’d enjoy them - I don’t like staying on resort grounds for the entire trip, and everything I have heard makes it sound that the food is very mediocre at AIs (yes I know there are some superlative AIs, but I’m speaking of the majority). It’s the same reason I don’t have an interest in cruises. |
I don’t have disdain for AIs. They have their place. Like cruises. I prefer not to use either until I’m probably 65+, my travel style is a bit more adventurous for now. I can see wanting to do an Alaska Cruise or something when l’m older and comfort becomes a priority. |
I feel heard and seen, thank you. |
I’d like yo try and AI, but am genuinely afraid of my family getting a stomach bug. I hear so many stories of this happening frequently in Mexico and DR, even at the high end AI resorts. |
I'm going to one in the spring with some other moms. I've never been. Travel for our family has always been either camping by a national park (so lots of planning and work) or international (so also lots of planning and work) and I come home exhausted. This sounds like it will be an actual vacation. |
Just as there are differences in quality among resorts, there are differences among AIs. They’re not all large and wild with bad food. Take a look at these examples:

Did OP ever name the resort? |
Why do you even care about what people think? You had a good time she you got your money’s worth! Good for you! |
