And Crockett is homophobic.

The definition of butch is having a masculine appearance or mannerisms. Has nothing to do with one’s sexual orientation.

Nope. No one calls a man butch.

Stop trying to defend the indefensible, lefty.

The heck? Of course they do. You probably don't know any.

Not in this century. The word butch means a masculine looking woman at this point just like gay no longer means happy in any modern context.

Disagree. I think “butch” is used in two different contexts today:

(1). In the LGBT community, it is not a put down. The word may even be used to describe someone in a positive, favorable way.

(2). In the broader community, it is used against women (gay or straight) as a put down or to be offensive. Crockett was using it in this context.

^ that is correct

Leading definition in the Urban Dictionary: A (traditionally) masculine man or woman, and especially a masculine lesbian. Often the "dominant" partner in a lesbian relationship, and especially of a butch/femme lesbian relationship.

Let's be real, we would have to give Crockett's dig a very generous read to believe it was not homophobic.

. Wow. Someone hasn't bothered to read any of the preceding comments before weighing in with well trodden "outrage".

The comments here are meaningless.

The democrat used slurs in a way to make fun of and disparage another woman by comparing her to a masculine lesbian.

What if the democrat called a man a queen or a fa$$ot to insult them? That’s ok?
So you're admitting that you haven't read the thread? Again, all of this has been covered from both sides.

DP. What are you talking about? I'm no MTG fan, but all she did was make a remark about Crockett's eyelashes. Hardly cause for the truly unhinged response she gave.

What’s unhinged is MTG thinking that making personal insults is appropriate decorum in a committee meeting.

Well, obviously. But her "insult" was nowhere near the crap Crockett was dishing. Zero proportionality.

Nope. MTG started this. The conflict was at zero and then she raised the level of conflict with her comment about eyelashes. That is the point when you should start measuring "proportionality"... Not after Crockett responded.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. MTG learned that day.

MTG's insult was directed at Crockett. Crockett's insult was a hypothetical not ostensibly directed at anybody.

MTG is repulsive and reprehensible, but I really don’t like that we’re giving a pass to Crockett for using Butch as a derogatory term. That’s also not OK even if it was a comeback. That’s not how you gain the upper hand.

If you’re “no MTG fan” then you probably know it wasn’t like she just made one comment. She’s made her whole “career” as a professional troll.

The phrase was “bad-built, butch body.” It wasn’t a dig on masc identifying Lesbians. It was a dig on MTG for being built like a sloppy, shapeless box.

I think the comment was both misogynistic and homophobic. It implies that the only acceptable way to be as a woman is to be physically small and frail, which is misogynistic. It also suggests that being butch is not an acceptable way to be, which is homophobic.

They all were embarrassing to watch. It was disappointing and none retained dignity or gravitas. For the record, I wouldn’t hire someone with lashes like that, but the comment was inappropriate. Yet after hearing the response, not going to hire someone with lashes like still. It was like listening to a school bully and a street thug.

Agree 100%. If a white male Republican like Trump said this everyone would be up in arms. Or if it was said to a minority woman. The democrats are extremely nasty dismissive of suburban white women it will lose them the election in the fall. Remember when it was ok for them to be racist and pick a black female VP, couldn’t have a white, Hispanic, Asian, female VP?

Ah now we are getting to the brass tacks. So the 'suburban woman' should be able to say disrespectful, inappropriate things and not have anything said back to her in response. Cue the tears and outrage about how she is being attacked after she started it. You all would be funny if you weren't so predictable.

MTG is getting trolled in public now with this phrase and I hope it continues. It is what she deserves.

Suburban white women are pro-choice and have been abandoned by the GOP. And they are not pleased about it.

Which one's the school bully and which one is the "street thug"?
