Not to hijack this thread to talk about that one, but I truly do not believe the OP is sincere or that it would be possible to do what she describes. But I reported the thread to Jeff as a troll and he didn’t delete it so there must not have been indicators that it was.

Maybe a 17 year old could go on an organized tour or something with family. I still maintain it’s impossible for 17 year olds to check into actual HOTELS overseas. I guess hostels might be different, but the OP didn’t say they were doing hostels-she specifically said hotels.

Also, the age of majority in Vietnam IS actually 18!!!! I think it was lower before but is most definitely 18 now.

I hate myself for the energy this occupies in my brain.

My son’s friend traveled through Europe solo at that age—it honestly sounds like the OP’s kid would be fine and they have contacts in country in a pinch.

Pp here. I don’t have strong feelings about whether the kids should do this or not. I’m really just entirely hung up on the question of whether it’s possible for a 17 year old to check into multiple HOTELS alone overseas.

For context, I tried to do this myself in Mexico when I was 17 and no hotel would accept me. I also tried once to get my brother a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur when he was 17-they wouldn’t let him check in.

It could be the OP means hostels when she says hotels and maybe that can be done.

I find Interviews with Trump supporters to be fascinating. I have never known people who think like this existed. How are conspiracy theorists not able to tell when someone is lying and manipulating them? And I always wonder if Cindy Crawford really uses her own haircare and skincare products to look so radiant.
Or if she really just gets a lot of cosmetic procedures done, then claims she looks so young is because her products are so revolutionary.

Or if a billionaire like Kylie Jenner really uses a $125 skincare set to keep up her beautiful skin or if it is all the result of cosmetic surgery.
Why would someone who can afford their own private jet along w/multiple mansions use a mediocre $22 body scrub everyday in the shower??

NP. I have a background in data analytics and one of my hobbies is to find the actual studies that people claim exist when they say stuff like “studies say.” The downside of this hobby is that I am skeptical of almost everything now, because so many studies are just so bad. But man can I go down a rabbit hole.
