Ron DeSantis ends permanent alimony

Is there a group of women who want women to suffer in poverty because they got divorced that post here?

I don’t get the hate and name calling being displayed here.

It’s the same posters who want to see woman suffer through pregnancy, then suffer in poverty with children they can’t afford. There’s no logic. They aren’t rational. They just hate women. They aren’t interesting. It’s boring really.

Boo hoo. Welcome to the vast majority of the world. I was impressed with fit 80+ year olds working hard for in Japan. It gives them a sense of purpose and keeps their brains sharp. They don't whine about it like lazy westerners either.

A fit 80 year old who can work hard is not the norm in any country. How many 80 year olds do you know? There are some that can work, but I don’t think the average 80 year old can work a hard job like CNA or waitress. There is a 74 year old woman I know that is a janitor and it’s pathetic. She cannot do her job, and has physical problems because of her job. She is in a bad position and her husband has multiple chronic health issues. There was a story about an elderly man who had to return to work as a janitor at a school and the students were so upset for his situation that they raised a large amount of money to help him so he could retire.

“It was just so sad seeing an 80-year-old man having to do things an 80-year-old shouldn’t have to do,” Banner Tidwell, a student at the school, told the local TV station.“

Students at Callisburg High School in Texas have raised more than $270,000 for their 80-year-old janitor who had to return to work after his rent was raised.

The custodian, called Mr James by the students, got back to work last month due to the rise in the cost of living, KCTV5 reported.

I don’t know who is posting this nonsense here that elderly people in general should be working menial, low paying jobs, and crowing about fit Japanese people in their 80s doing so. Biden is 80 and we’ve seen him fall up stairs, fall over on his bike, fall over objects on stage, and he’s got minders that help him and physically pull him up when he’s laying on the ground. There’s some real jerks posting here.

The same people who are cheering on letting men out of their financial commitments and forcing women to do manual labor into their 80s are the same people who are upset trans women exist and want to endanger them to protect women’s rights and who vote for politicians who support taking away healthcare from women and let them die or lose their fertility during pregnancy.

It’s not boring- it’s scary. It’s sociopathic. Everyone gets old and has health issues. I can’t believe the poster who claims 80 year olds should be working hard jobs and be fit and strong is familiar with 80 year olds or hard jobs. This discussion board has some terrible, out of touch people posting as if they are knowledgeable, but irl they are dumb and purposely mean.

All the people cheering this are either trolls or 2nd wives. For shame. This is awful.

Call them what they are: misogynists. The one who said it’s the same people who are also forced birthers is right. They just hate women.

It seems more like working women who don’t like sahms and 2nd wives are cheering this on. I don’t see how this is connected to abortion.

Where do you see “working women” in this thread slamming women? I don’t see that. I see people who generally devalue women. That’s the crossover with forced birthers. People who devalue women hate them across the board.

Quit trying to bring abortion into this issue. It’s weird. Reading the posts on this thread shows who is posting and calling elderly women deadbeats, bums, and promoting delusions of elderly women with chronic health conditions working as CNAs.

It is very different if you are working because you want to, v you are literally going to be out on the streets if you don't work into your 80s. I hope you recognize that Japan and the US are two VERY different situations.

Yet its ok to force men, these women's exDH working in their 80s so they don't have to lift a finger?

Excuse me? Women are not responsible for transwomen's safety.
We have worked hard to carve out our safe sex segregated spaces for a reason. If transwomen feel unsafe in male spaces, then take it up with men. Or do the hard work and create trans only spaces.
This isn't a woman's problem to solve.

NP. I think the rapid fire posts lashing out at anyone who is opposed to permanent alimony come across as deeply entitled and sexist.

These are the same people who think it is horrifying if a woman in her 70s and 80s has to work, but are gleeful about how making the elderly ex-husband continue to work into his 80s to support that permanent alimony is fine, great even. It is greedy and hypocritical.

It is beyond offensive to link the desire of an ex-wife in her 70s to force her ex-husband to keep working until he keels over to abortion rights.
