Shouldn’t that make you NOT depressed? Like woohoo, I’m going to my second home 75 miles away! Why get depressed about something you will never do? That should bring you fleeting sadness, at most. |
Can we nominate all of Kansas? |
So true. I lived in Las Vegas for a year for work once, and I have never been so lonely or depressed. It's so awful. |
Your logic should apply to every post on this thread then, right? |

In terms of towns with more than 50k people (all towns below 50k are uniformly depressing no matter what state you're in), South Bend, Indiana takes the cake for me. I had a job interview and job offer as a professor at Notre Dame but I knew from about 20 minutes after leaving the airport that I would not be accepting a job there. |
I think most people are naming towns they’ve spent time in. |
Agree to disagree on the bold. I love a good small town. |
Explain to me what's good about it. |
There is absolutely nowhere within a 75 mile radius of DC worth bothering to have a second home so this is hysterical snobbery to me |
I live in DC. Second home is in the country. It's absolutely superior to the soul less DC suburbs. Many places are, in fact. It's not that hard to be superior to the DC suburbs. |
Also came here to say Gary IN. Moline IL is a close compare. |
Yea, and you're still bitter about Notre Dame. You post about it all the time. Really, it's time to move on. |
