Gymnastics still not letting parents in

How does a business tell parents that we need you to stay at an arms length because your behavior sucks.

This is a gymnastics problem, not a “parents in the waiting room” problem.

My child takes private music lessons at an academy with many music offices. Some parents wait. They sit and read a book in the lobby or work on computer/phone. This shouldn’t be a problem. If it is a problem, it is to do with the culture of your particular sport

I think it is a moco problem.

It really might be covid still. Until the youngest students served have been vaccinated it is just not worth the risk. Probably an insurance issue.

If the gym used to allow parents to wait inside, and they have the space and seating, saying they can’t now and citing bc of covid is a crock. If there is another reason, then they should communicate that.

My guess is staffing. They have enough staff to look after the kids but not the parents that need to be babysat. However, I love the no parents thing. It's been amazing for my child's independence.
I agree that too much time in the car is no fun. I find fun things to do myself. It's awesome. I love the freedom of being able to fly solo for a bit. The tethered moms baffle me. It is a kind of icky codependency. To each their own but yuck.

But you're seeing like one 45 to an hour snippet of this parent's time. I build plenty of "fly solo" time into my week. But my kid's gymnastics class is in the evening during bad traffic; I just want to plop myself in the waiting room and relax there. Bonus that I get a glimpse into how she's doing. Unlike soccer or baseball, there are no weekly games, (at least at my kid's level), that parents would otherwise be attending to get that window.

And not sitting in the gymnastics waiting room -- versus used to sitting there -- has been "amazing for your child's independence"? Really?

Way to rationalize the problem rather than addressing it in a healthier way.

Private music lessons is in no way the same as group training for sports.

Yes it is. It is a referencing a parent sitting in a waiting room, waiting on their child to finish a practice or lesson. Same thing

It's fine. It's a mask..who cares.

Have you tumbled and flipped with a mask on? Running tumble pass?

Yes, I have (and yes, I'm an adult). It really is fine. There are NCAA gymnasts who have competed full routines with a mask on.

I think this is the main issue.

And, when you take music lessons, there is usually one teacher one student and one parent. Not, a gaggle of kids and their gossiping competitive parents the kids act out for.

No it’s about parents sitting together in the waiting room and watching all the kids participate at the same time and commenting/gossiping/being catty about kids who are not their own. Not the same.

This. You got yourselves into this and the gyms finally have a way to ban you. Well done.

There are multiple lessons going on with different teachers in various rooms at the same time. Hence, parents wait in the lobby most of the time.

This sounds like your problem. So don’t talk or participate with gossip. Just sit and mind your own business or wait in the car. I don’t see why the gymnastics place would care about parents’ small talk- unless they are being loud enough the kids can hear through the windows and walls

It is load, distracting, hurtful, the kids absolutely hear the snide remarks.
