Recommend an outlet cover/plug

DS's new favorite game is removing and replacing the outlet plugs we currently have (safety 1st press n' pull plug protectors)... Can anyone recommend an outlet plug or cover that is harder to remove? TIA.

Absolutely every outlet cover on the market is better than those piece of crap safety first ones. Get the cheap clear or white ones, those are a major pain in the neck to get out (most people I know use a butter knife to get them out -- I wouldn't recommend that method). There are also some hinged ones, I forget the brand (red cross, maybe?) that work really well. Also, once we replaced all the safety first ones, which have that attractive button-looking thing that drew DS's attention to all the outlets in the house, he now has no interest whatsoever in even trying to pull the covers off the outlets. Honestly, they should pull those things off the market. It's ridiculous.

We have the kind that you replace the entire cover (the whole rectangle) and then to plug things in, you have to slide part of it over. It works great. But I will say the one problem is that now that my son is older, he wants to plug things in. So what does he do? Put his fingers onto it and try to slide it (you need to slide it with the plug). But it worked great when he was younger. No access whatsover.

Just put some clear packing tape over the outlet plugs and that should keep him from removing them. Put it over the entire plate.

Get the cheap clear ones. The press n pull that you tried, as you know, are crap. I made that mistake, too. After a few months, though, DS could get the better ones out and loved to pull them out and then try to put them back in. In his playroom and bedroom we put clear packing tape over the outlets like PP suggested.

That's a good idea unless it's an outlet that you use for things.. in which case you'd end up replacing the tape all of the time and it won't take long for your DC to figure out how to pull it off just by watching you.
