Current Freshman students - applying to TJ in sophomore year

Anonymous
There was a thread about TJ Sophomore admissions here somewhere but I am not able to find it now. Anyways, looks like many kids and parents are not aware that they can apply to TJ in sophomore year. The application window just opened and the details are on TJ website (search for Sophomore admissions). DC joined TJ as a sophomore and they are doing very well there. A few of our friends are also thinking of having their kids apply as a sophomore.
If you think your kid would benefit from TJ and if they were waitlisted/rejected through the normal Freshman application process, please take advantage of this opportunity. It seems not many people knew about this or got to know late. So want to put this on this board.

I had a question if you could apply after rejecting it for Freshman year. I thought I read that you couldn't.

Well, at least, it looks like TJ Sophomore admissions cares of the kids' academic performance. For 15-20 slots vacated by TJ's freshman dropouts, they will need GPA, 3 LRs from teachers, an essay, and optional PSAT/SAT. It's likely those with experience factors are already settled with the school situation.

What about people on the waitlist? Shouldnt they go through that list first?

No this is a completely new process and not at all linked to Freshman admission status
