Hello,
Our kid currently goes to a private school in 3rd grade. We applied for FCPS AAP full-time program Level IV. We got a rejection response. We were wondering if we should appeal the decision or not? Our kid took WISC V and got FSIQ of 116 raw (86% Rank – High Average), which was submitted as part of application. Kid took Cogat and got 109 and NNAT of 119, but did not submit them. She did have good recommendation from her School teachers and we submitted 6 work samples with application in addition to other forms. Is it worth appealing? If worth appealing what other samples would be helpful? Thank you in advance for your time and help!! |
Those scores are not competitive even in low SES schools. You can appeal , it won’t hurt but the chances are slim. What’s wrong with current school or local school non app? |
Is your local school a title 1 school ? Why switch to public |
What about your student makes you think they need AAP? Whatever that is - since it's not test performance - you need to really play it up if you appeal.
If you're mainly interested in AAP for the cost savings of switching to public while maintaining some of the exclusivity of private, I'd skip appealing as that's not really about your student's learning needs. |
There’s no harm in appealing but you’ll need to make a very compelling case w/ samples for why AAP is needed. |
