Brown Women’s Lacrosse

A poster from another forum is arguing ND’s first #1 ranking in one poll was partly the result of beating Brown by one point earlier this year. Do you agree?

It was game 1 of their 8 game winning streak so, sure, that's part of it.

Wasn’t Brown ranked in the 20s when they played each other? I don’t see how that would have impacted ND’s rise to #1.

to some extent, every game is part of the reason why a team is ranked #1. If ND has an extra loss on its record, especially to a lowly ranked team, then the #2 or #3 team is more likely to be ranked first instead of ND.

it is a silly question and is not provable one way or the other. why do you care? are you trying to make the point that Brown is (or is not relevant) based on quibbling with the poster in the the forum?

by the way, I just looked up the rankings and the ND girls team is ranked 9th. Men are ranked first.

I should add that I don't think ND should be #1, but every game they play is a part of their ranking. That said, only beating Brown by 1 should hurt them rather than help them. It's just a poll. And they aren't #1 in the other poll.

Brown had a promising start to the season but has slipped in recent weeks. Currently #5 in the ivies, which would put them out of the conference tournament if it were held today.
