explanations for low basal temp beside thyroid/anovulatory?

Anonymous
I have charted for the past year, after the birth of my son. I conceived via charting so I feel like I know how to do this. I consistently have low temperatures, highest is 98, at my normal waking time. No jump to higher to show that I am ovulating. I now use the OPK too and they show I am ovulating at the right time (mostly). I am not BF. Thyroid check normal. I know sometimes I might not ovulate, but this seems excessive. RE not concerned and wants to do IVF, DH and I want to continue timed sex for a bit more but I'm worried that I'm missing something. Advice? TIA!!

Opk will not confirm ovulation. You can have an Lh surge and still not ovulate. If you are conident that you know how to chart, then you should see a temp shift. My temp never goes past 98, I am in the 97.4 range and then close to 98 after ovulation. You should request ultrasounds to check your follicle growth to see exactly when and if you are ovulating.

OP here: thanks for the response. But before my temps were above 98 when ovulating and stayed that way when PG. Maybe now I just have lower temps. I will ask RE for the follicle count and more info on ovulating. And thanks for the great point: OPK check LH, not actual, so I've been over relying on them.

I would think they can do u/s throughout the first 15 days of your cycle to check growth and if they see a dominant follicle and it reaches certain size you know you will o soon
