How does this country serve worse than dog food to children?

Look at the utter garbage children shove in their face everyday at school:

Meanwhile, look what they do in actual civilized countries:

Our school meals are a disgrace. Lowest cost/lowest quality that can technically still be called food.

I wouldn’t expect any better. It’s not a social priority. It’s like the healthcare crisis—most with political power have the economic power to avoid the problem. Rich people don’t wait 6 months to see a specialist, and their kids don’t eat public school gruel for lunch ( they pack a lunch or attend private school that serves better food). So the problem remains.

In your videos, all that rice! Do you know what the incidence of diabetes is in Asia? It's 10-19+% in differing populations in Asian countries (11% in the US).

Well...for millenia poor people ate far worse than what we serve in the US in public school. In many countries lunch wasn't a meal - it was two meals a day max.

Should we do better? Sure. But are we worse than what's happened throughout history? No.

Because people hate taxes. No one cares about the poor when they might have to pay a slight % more.

^This is stupid. Nourishing meals do not have to cost more. These kids are accustomed to junk food, and if they don't get it in the cafeteria line they'll skip the cafeteria food and head for the vending machines.

Pay a slight more and then a slight more, and again a slight more, then another slight more, and another…

Agree with you OP.
The menu in mcps sounds nutritious, the reality not so much.
I pack my kids lunch.

I would eat all of that.

My dog would be in heaven.

Of course they cost a bit more, but it's not astronomical. You should do some research into the budgets, it's quite the racket. It's also more work for employees, who are generally not highly trained, which will cost more.

Asians have a genetic propensity to getting diabetes.

What are you talking about? Do you have a cite?

I have these that show in general countries in Asia with a heavy diet of rice have a lower prevalence of diabetes than the US. China, Korea, and Japan are all lower than us.
