1st birthday party ... I need help finding a good location in DC or MD.

My little one is turning 2 next month also and I am having the same problem.. I need somewhere cheap, and I'm looking in the NOVA area..

My DD is turning 1 at the end of October. I really would like to throw a party of sorts but our apartment is TINY so that's not an option. I was thinking something pumpkin related but what happens if the weather is bad. Do you guys have any suggestions? We live in a complex so they rent out party spaces but that seems a little cheesy.

What's wrong with the party space in your complex? That sounds ideal. What on earth is cheesy about that? It's a party for a 1-year-old. How elegant do you really need it to be?

I didn't know you had to go all out for a 1 year old. My parents are flying into town. We'll get a cake, some party hats and get him a gift, but we'll probably save throwing a birthday bash until he gets a little older, has friends and knows what is going on.

I also have the problem living in a fairly small apartment (and as DD gets bigger, the apartment seems to get smaller..)
