My older DS (9) just has so many annoying behaviors right now. The things he's doing aren't "punishable" offenses... more like constantly making weird noises, talking about skipidi toilet, taking everything I say 100% literally.
Do you try to correct any of this stuff with your kids? Ignore? |

Things which I don't want my kids doing to their teachers and friends I do correct.
I've heard my kids say one too many times, "But I never do that at school" only to volunteer in their classes and see them doing whatever the annoying behavior is. |
Can you share how you correct it? |
| I think if they’re back in Chicago it’s ok |
| I ignore some things - if you survive the extinction burst it can be very effective. |
Verbally, and if it doesn't stop I find extra chores are an effective consequence. |

Oh, except one thing OP. I don't give consequences for taking everything I say literally. I think that's a generally young tween issue, and we just talk through it. But weird noses and really obnoxious jokes? If you don't stop, you can do the sweeping up after dinner. |
| Time for Dad to step up and give em the ol 5 across the eyes. |
