Annoying behavior

My older DS (9) just has so many annoying behaviors right now. The things he's doing aren't "punishable" offenses... more like constantly making weird noises, talking about skipidi toilet, taking everything I say 100% literally.

Do you try to correct any of this stuff with your kids? Ignore?

Things which I don't want my kids doing to their teachers and friends I do correct.

I've heard my kids say one too many times, "But I never do that at school" only to volunteer in their classes and see them doing whatever the annoying behavior is.

I think if they’re back in Chicago it’s ok

I ignore some things - if you survive the extinction burst it can be very effective.

Verbally, and if it doesn't stop I find extra chores are an effective consequence.

Oh, except one thing OP. I don't give consequences for taking everything I say literally. I think that's a generally young tween issue, and we just talk through it. But weird noses and really obnoxious jokes? If you don't stop, you can do the sweeping up after dinner.
