Returning to Home School after TJ and VHSL Transfer Rule

| DC received and is considering acceptance to TJ. Their primary hesitation is that if it does not work out (for whatever reason) they won't be able to participate in sports at base school for a year due to the VHSL transfer rule (which says a student must sit out of VHSL activities for 365 calendar days following a transfer to the school unless the transfer corresponded with a family move into the school attendance zone, subject to exceptions). We're not clear on the exceptions or if returning to a base school is exempt and plan to ask about it next week during the meet-and-greet. In the meantime, thought we'd ask the question here to see if anyone has experience in returning to base school and playing sports? |
