Q about self carrying meds

My DC goes to a small private high school in Montgomery county that doesn't have a nurse. The school follows Montgomery county rules that, they say, prohibit students from carrying OTC medicine. DC has chronic headaches and so keeps a bottle of ibuprofen in the office (along with a note signed by me and her doctor authorizing her to take it as needed). This system often results in a delay in taking it, which makes her miss more class and makes the headache more difficult to treat.

DC turns 18 in the fall (senior year). Will she be allowed to self carry then?

Get her a small plastic pill bottle and have her keep it in her bra. Barring a strip search they won’t find it. Just tell her not to ever take them in front of people and keep her mouth shut about it. Advil works better if you take it before you need it, so if she’s always getting a headache in math class tell her to take it before class.

Only if she keeps it hidden. Get her to a neurologist and get the headaches better treated if its chronic.

My girls have carried ibuprofen since middle school. They know to keep it concealed and take it discreetly when needed. Don’t inform anyone just do it. I can’t imagine having to go to the nurse every time for this.
