What's going on with olive oil prices? $60 at Costco!!!! It used to be $20 until a couple years ago.
Any recommendations on better deals? |

It’s not price gouging. Olive crops in Spain, the largest producer, dropped 50% in 2023 and isn’t back to normal levels yet. It’s due to climate change. Also, the war in Ukraine is making canola oil scarce, which puts more demand on olive oil.

| I love olive oil. |

Don’t buy 2 3L of it. How much olive oil do you need?
You can still get their organic brand for $21 for 2L which is still a pretty decent deal. |

Unless you are consuming it uncooked, as in salad, and sometimes not even then, you don’t need “EVOO.” Cooking takes away much of the extra virgin character The lighter/blended stuff is sometimes less expensive.
PS: climate change is a myth. |
NP but I use it for everything because it's the purist to start with. Don't care what happens when I cook it. |
I saw this too and i just refuse to pay that much for olive oil. I’m using vegetable oil a lot more. I hope the prices drop again otherwise olive oil will just be for very special occasions. |
