Middle School Boys @ Montgomery Mall MCPS day off

Anonymous
MCPS day off - If your middle school-looking son was at Montgomery Mall today with a large group of boys at the food court for lunch, please discuss their behavior with them. Security had to quiet them from screeching and disturbing everyone. Then one sub group decided to leave all their trash on their table for the staff to clean up after them. They did sheepishly return to clean when they were told to go back but they came across as ill-mannered and *hyper privileged*. I imagine many are nice kids individually (they weren’t doing anything super bad) but behavior changes in a group. Still, they should do better and parents should demand it, especially before handing over all that money for lunch, bobas, etc. They clearly still need some supervision and these parents left it to mall security. It’s not fair to staff.

Did any of them have on a school shirt?

No different than how they act at school.

What does this have to do with MCPS?

I don’t disagree. But that’s a problem, too. I’m hoping parents will work on that….

Because they are MCPS students….?

I didn’t notice. Not looking to publicly identify either - just enough info for their parents to work with.

It’s a Wednesday and an MCPS holiday today and the mall was full of MCPS students. Why?

LOL! At least they weren’t shoplifting or fighting or vaping.

At the strip mall by our high school, we have had all of the above.

If your kid was there .... you don't need someone else to publicly describe your kid misbehaving.

OP here - This! Not going to happen.
(And a lot of people should probably be having the conversation regardless.)

Kids like this think they are cute and funny. They are probably going to post a video of their hilarious day. They feel entitled to act this way because their parents feel entitled.

Kids these days have no self respect. Their parents are not teaching it either and do not discipline their kids anymore. I’ve seen this type of behavior at other malls and restaurants. They all have credit cards and Apple pay. They are everywhere. They are rude and disrespectful. It’s sad.

Another generation taking us to Hell in a hand basket. Of course the Socrates said it of Plato, and Plato said it of Aristotle in turn. And every generation since.
