Rouge in recovery

Anonymous
I just tossed two 74L garbage bags full of beauty stuff.

I’ve been a Sephora Rouge person for several years, which means I’ve spent at least a grand there each year, and I’ve barely used anything I’ve bought apart from shampoo/conditioner and some perfume. I almost never wear makeup and all my friends tell me I look better without it.

I threw out easily ten thousand dollars worth of crap that’s done nothing but clutter up my space and mental energy.

I kept my eyelash curler and a lipgloss.

I’m not stopping haircuts and skincare but everything else is in the garbage.

You’re an inspiration! I keep hanging on to stuff thinking I’ll need it someday. I’ve work eye shadow like three times in my life but I have ten of them.

Haha thank you! I’m not encouraging anyone else to do it, but I wasn’t using any of it and don’t enjoy it.

Also, makeup just doesn’t look good on me, and never has. I’ve had it done professionally many times and I always look old, greasy and clownish.

How old are you OP? I spend a much smaller amount there but it is almost all skincare focused rather than makeup. It seems to make a bigger different as I age.

48.
I agree that skincare is more important now.

You could have sold it or donated it, but otherwise right there with you. I'm wearing minimal makeup now too.

I've asked about makeup donations in the past when I donated clothing, but haven't found any organization that accepts it.
