My 3yo has had something of a chronic on and off that's particulaly bad right now. I suspect asthma (I had it as a kid) and am getting him checked out at the doctor tomorrow. Wondering how they even go about treating asthma in a kid that young? Can you even get them to use an inhaler?

A three year old can use a nebulizer or an inhaler with a spacer.

We used a nebulizer with a mask attachment and it was easy. He grew out of it around 7
My three year old uses a spacer w a face mask very well. Way easier ime than a nebulizer bc it takes a fraction of the time
My Brother had childhood asthma and doesn't have it now as an adult. OP, in case that is something you'd like to hear.
What kind of doctor does a child see for an asthma diagnosis and treatment?
Your pediatrician should be able to do this, but can also be referred to pulmonology and/or an asthma/allergy practice. |
