I realize that I may be alone in being irked by this, and that maybe it is better for the environment or whatever, but I find it tacky and annoying when people write into listserves asking for free things, as in, "Looking for a Baby Bjorn (or whatever) if anyone is done with theirs and wants to give it away." I have no problem with people asking to buy things secondhand, and think that is great, but when people ask for *free* things, that just seems wrong. Okay, we now return to our regular programming.

You must be on MOTH. This irks me too. I love hand-me-downs but I wouldn't ask for them from strangers.

Yes to freecycle. Once in a blue moon I'll post an ISO on the DCUM listserv, if I've looked for a while and haven't found it elsewhere, but I've never expected to get it free. I'm happy to pay a fair price.
