Hi,
I live in Gaithersburg, Maryland and I have two daughters ages 10 and 11 who are going on their 3rd season of playing travel soccer. I am looking for good alteratives to Potomac and Bethesda soccer. I'm fairly new to the area so I am still not familiar with all of the travel teams in driving distance from Gaithersburg. Thanks for any suggestions. |
| Probably want this moved to the soccer forum for more informed responses. |
there are smaller clubs in the county. What is the level of play? why not PSC or BSC? |
Well, those are the best two programs in the area. If you don’t like them but still want a big club, PPA is close. Need to tell us more of what you’re looking for and why. |
| PPA is not close but there are tons of teams up in Gaithersburg. |

MSI travel, FCGB (though it’s not really travel until u13), Juventus Academy, OGBC
Those are your main travel alternatives IMO. |

World Class Premier is the answer to your question
https://www.worldclasspremier.net/ |
They barely have any girls teams and many do SAM Select. Seems self-promotional. |
Also, OP gave the age of the kids. They don’t have 2012 and their 2013 is rec level. They get creamed in SAM Select. The boys side is more competitive. |
|
Had anyone done OBGC travel? Thoughts?
I have a 2012 girl currently doing rec through them but looking to do travel in the Fall. |
| MSI - they are on am upward trajectory, and will cost you a lot less money than other travel clubs |
| FC Frederick is not far. |

Pretty sure Bethesda and Potomac are the only two clubs in MoCo that have multiple teams at each level on the girls side. There are smaller clubs, but most don't have travel at all ages.
ROSA is the other smaller club no one has mentioned. |
I have a DD in the same area - here are some good options that practice in or very close to Gaithersburg: FCGB Liverpool DC Metro World Class Premier Juventus DC Metro Assuming your 11yo is moving to U13 in the fall, there will be a lot of roster changes, as players definitely switch clubs at that point. Go to tryouts, talk to the coaches. |
| We’ve found that OBGC travel provides solid skills development in an encouraging environment as well as good competition in league play. Tryouts continue though next week I think. Definitely worth considering. |
