when do you stop progesterone?

Anonymous
I will call RE this week, but curious how it works.
Started taking progesterone today at 4dpo. When do you stop, do you usually get a blood test to confirm you are not pg? And after you stopped, how long before you get your period?
Thanks!

I did two IVF cycles (both failed). In both cases I took the progesterone until the pregnancy test (about two weeks after transfer). As soon as the result was out, the doctor told me to stop the progesterone (again, because my result was negative). However, at least at my clinic, when the pregnancy test is positive, I know you keep taking it (I forgot for how long... perhaps several weeks).

In my case, about 2-3 days after stopping the progesterone I got my period (both cycles), but I was told it could take a week or more for you to get your period.

Good luck!

Forgot to add: both times I did go to the IVF clinic and got a blood test to confirm the result I got at home.

If you are taking progesterone and get a BFP, then they have you take it anywhere from the 8th to 12th week of pregnancy. How long you take it depends on the doctor.

I meant to ask if I need to go in for bw to confirm bfn an when is it usually done, 14dpo?

Sorry... I am new here... what is BFP and BFN?

BFP - Big Fat Positive - Pregnant
BFN - Big Fat Negative - Not Pregnant

Most docs will have you do b/w around 14dpo to confirm bfn before stopping meds. Some will let you POAS and then stop if negative. Check with your own doc on what they do.
