Attendance policy

Can someone clarify the rules and difference with per quarter and annual and absences allowed. I also understand at some point excused or not does not matter once you are over a certain number.

This is the actual regulation. You found an out-of-date summary from somewhere.

I think this is an old policy. In the current system, nothing happens unless a student misses 10 days in a row.

It is all lip service. At my school, nothing is happening to students who are absent for 10+ consecutive days.

I inquired if one of my students, who was absent for over 10 days, would be removed. I was told that because one teacher or substitute had not marked the student absent (the default is "present") for a single period on a single day, nothing could happen. Clearly, this was an error as the student would probably not have attended a random 4th period on just one day. Rather than look into it or have the teacher correct the error, the spirit of the policy was ignored.

Unless teachers and substitutes are 100% accurate with recording absences (70 in a row out of 70), the policy won't apparently be enforced at my school.
