Regarding Upcounty MLK Jr MS Humanities and Communication program

My son got accepted into the Humanities Magnet Program at MLK Jr middle school. We are trying to decide if we should accept it or not. There is very little information/reviews available online for this particular program. Is there any one here with experience in sending their child to this program ? Any pros and cons will be super helpful.

In general for any magnet program it doesn’t hurt to accept and attend. If you decide after 1 semester or 1st year it’s not a good fit, you can always return to your home school.

Thanks. Yes that is true. I am more worried about the fact the he will be going in not knowing anyone. Hopefully he will make friends and be happy. I have not done my schooling in this country. So it is a little new for me.

When did you get the acceptance letter OP? We got waitlisted in Jan. Still holding on to some hope.

The acceptance letter(email) came last Friday 04/05

It's not bad, I have a DS in 6th grade. We're going back to home school. THe work is rigorous, the normal students aren't nice, but the teachers are good.

DP. Yes it’s the school that’s giving us real pause though the program itself seems interesting.
