MD 529 statement: $0

Anonymous
Just got my Maryland 529 statement telling me that my 529 has $0 value.

And?

OP, this happened to us as well. We think that the 529s are being transferred and that's simply an acknowledgment that account is being closed. Theres' a sentence somewhere on that document that suggests a transfer.

This.

You had to change your login and everything on the site.

Yes, I think it’s the transfer that happened back in early March. But I, too, had a moment of panic when I opened the envelope and saw that $0.

Why did they not also mail a new paper statement with the new account information and balance.
Very poor communication

I got a paper letter regarding the new account info.

we also panicked for a few minutes. What the heck. Can't they just add a simple sentence reminding account holders that it is being moved to a new account.

For some reason, I have over 5 reminders from citibank about an account change. 4! 3 emails so far, 1 texts and it's also listed on the website when you log in. They have another 3 weeks to send the reminder, so that may be close to 8 reminders at the end. IT works though! I'm paying attention.

Marylands new website is absolutely horrendous. It’s from the 80s. How could they possibly think this was an upgrade?

uhhh I got this letter. The first line literally says, "This statement represents ... between 1/1/2024 and 3/8/2024. All Accounts have been transitioned to a new platform . . . "
