The Beach at Summerly - question re the ending

Anonymous
This was an enjoyable read - like most of Beatriz Williams’s books that I’ve read, historical fiction with a light mystery/suspense.

Spoiler —-

Question about the ending. The very last page or two, when Cricket receives the package with a copy of Khruschev’s speech, is Cricket’s reaction supposed to leave us wondering whether she will become a communist / spy for the Russians? There were many overt and subtle references to Cricket’s similarities with Olive, but I still would not have predicted this other than that Cricket’s reaction to receipt of the speech was somewhat dramatic.
