Fcps basketball rising spring league

My 8th grade son was asked to be on the rising freshman spring league basketball team for the high school he will go to next year. But there aren’t a lot of details yet, and my son doesn’t want me to be the embarrassing one asking the coach too many questions.

Anyone who has a kid who did this in the past know how it works?

Does being asked to the spring league team mean you are likely to make the high school team?

Typically there are tryouts to be on this. Did your son not go to tryouts? Being on this team doesn't mean you'll be on the HS team but it helps.

Is it the summer league? There usually isn't a spring league for rising freshman. But in the spring there are green days/work outs that 8th graders are invited to join in.
