Can’t do anything about the iReady right?

Anonymous
DS had a terrible language arts iReady. When I appeal, there is nothing that can be done about that, right?

Did it improve in winter ? If so mention that or address it by pointing out high verbal Cogat if he has that. My child had night iready and Cogat came back with unexpected low verbal I mentioned it in the write up that Cogat must be an outlier compared to his history

There is. Keep doing lexia. For math you need to spend time to teach them advance. Intentionally ask them to take time during the test

Not PP but my DC already maxed out on Lexia for the grade after finishing Level 12. DC is instructed to work on ST Math instead in the time others are given to reach that point in Lexia.

This must vary by school. We have 1st graders finishing all the way through level 21

My 2nd grader is on level 15 and has been told not to play it at home and is told to use the "choice board" of non-Lexia activities when others do Lexia. They're actually quite frustrated by it bc they enjoy playing it.

We've also been instructed to not use it at home, but no restrictions in class when its lexia time. My 2nd grader is on level 19.

My question wasn’t about the levels… it’s about how to appeal a crappy a submission with a crappy IReady score

The IReady scores stay with your DC. Unfortunately

I’m surprised they’re using iReady now. (I have older kids).

WISC. Also, provide evidence that they are good at english (reading, writing, etc). to counter the low iReady score

They don't do DRA anymore (which is good because it is accurate but takes a huge amount of teacher time away from the students). They need to use something, so iready it is. And iready can flag dyslexia or other issues as well as indicate students who are at or above grade level. Some students have artificially low scores from just clicking through, but no one has artificially high scores on iready from prepping. So it has some value in several different situations.
