Hi All,
I want to put together a basket with delicious jars of jam, honey, chips, chocolate, cheese etc. I want really good artisanal goodies for a foodie friend. What are your favorite things. I may not use all the ideas but I am interested in goodies that I may buy for myself as well, so please tell me all the things you love or love to indulge in. Thanks to you all for your suggestions. |
| Lately my chocoholic relatives have been into Toney's Chocolonely bars, but make sure to check the dates - some stores don't sell much of it, so what's in stock is old. Freshly roasted coffee beans from a local roaster would be nice. |
| Thank you! |
| I buy local jam, honey , cheese, etc. Farmers markets are great for this. |
|
I like Recchiuti's chocolates.
Cheese - Murray's cheese has lots of great gifts you can order. But if you're building a custom basket and looking for cheese you can buy in any WF/ Wegmans, I like Cowgirl Creamery's Red Hawk and Jasper Hill Farms Harbison. Vermont Creamery has delicious cultured butter. Coffee - Compass coffee and Vigilante are local roasters. Jams - Frog Hollow and Jam (welovejam is the website) are great |
| Great idea's! |
| Caviar and a nice bottle of champagne. |
| Good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Find a small specialty shop, not from a grocery store. |
| Go to the Italian Store. You can’t turn around in that place without seeing 10 things that would be great for this. |
| Knudsen’s caramels. From Wisconsin and the best ever. |
| Marcona almonds. |
|
Believe it or not, Trader Joe’s has a lot of high quality selective products for a small price. Their cheeses are quite good, they have different flavors of Marcona almonds, their biscotti is good.
You might consider some good quality teas as well. |
Are you from the Bay Area? I'm in SF, and Cowgirl Creamery and Frog Hollow are local here. |
| Virginia peanuts. They are completely diifferent than regular peanuts, a different species actually. |
