Question re Non-ECNL Arlington travel tryouts

Anonymous
This question is for regular Arlington travel teams -not ECNl or pre-academy. Do existing Arlington players get their offers/team placements before the tryouts are held for outside club players or do they make offers all at the same time? My child is happy at Arlington but I am wondering if we need to do tryouts at other clubs as an insurance policy in the event we won't know what team we are on until after all the area tryouts.

Why not have a conversation with the coach?

Who should attend travel tryouts?
Tryouts are held only for players who are not currently a member of Arlington Soccer. Current players are evaluated throughout the year by the technical staff. Current players may be asked to attend Tryouts as extra training and/or for logistical reasons.

All offers are made at the same time. If you are worried about being moved down I’d talk to the coach.

In general at arlington, nearly all the kids stay at their current level/team. The top 2-3 might go up, bottom 2 go down. But if you are a current parent you probably know if your kid is a definite up or down. The “up” players have been given a chance to play with the next color team as a guest player, they start every single game. The down kids are the ones struggling, maybe to playing as much, never starting.

The good news of all this is that there are kids on the current ECNL rosters who, when they were younger, moved up to red, then down to white, then back up to red and eventually academy. I think there are a few players that were blue or black team at one point in their career.

Arlington looks to develop and promote players to teams that fit their needs; if you are worried as a parent, talk to the coach at an appropriate time (not right after a game!)

Um, no. At the academy level, Arlington imports players. Sad.
