Shining Stars mess

Curious if anyone else has heard…

Apparently there was a love triangle between the principal and several staff members going on.

Now there is no administrators… this is on top of several staff members quitting throughout the school year, and the staff has shrunk. Are our kids safe there?

The kids will be alright

This should be moved to the DCPS forum. But lol, haven't heard about Shining Stars in years! Can't speak to safety, but SS has been a disaster for years and has been clearing waitlists with unfilled seats for 5+ years. That's a charter school death spiral and should be treated as a backup option for free pre-K only. Don't count on your child actually learning anything when the time comes for them to actually start learning at school.

It's been a mess for a very long time. And yes there's absolutely a charter death spiral. But the love triangle is news to me!

Their 15-year review is in SY 25-26, and I'm not certain they're going to pass. I guess it depends how they score on the new scoring metrics... and how the finances go.

So did someone resign, or get fired? What's happening?

Howdy! I use to teach there. Just seeing this now, sorry if I'm late.

Yeah principal was ina relationship with three different women in staff. He was already pretty useless (smokes in his office lol) and this wasn't surprising. Dr. R (who isn't a real Dr of anything at all, she just pretends) needed someone who could tolerate Ms. G the ops director.

I’m a current mom of children that are enrolled here and have been for some years now, and as a parent, I’ve noticed that my kids grew to love this school, the staff and the activities they do to learn. One of my children who wasn’t speaking before they were in enrolled is now speaking, having conversations with other people, speaking different language (not enrolled in Spanish Immersion) and can’t wait to go to school every day and is disappointed when school is closed. The teachers and other staff members are friendly and are very helpful. There were a few I can say other wise about, but they are no longer here (thank you for this). This school had some rough days but what school doesn’t, but they work along side with you(parents) and the children to accommodate everyone’s happiness and joy. This is a school I plan to stick with. As far as the former principal’s personal business, that isn’t for anyone on here to spread unless you were part of it and in that “Triangle”. We are all human and we all make mistakes but this school shouldn’t take a fall for something if they weren’t informed on it. And as for the staff that was involved, you should be ashamed of yourself too, because it takes numerous STAFF MEMBERS to tango in that game of personal relationship/work relationship.

As a parent I disagree with this conversation. No one is perfect nor is ANY school however, this seems to be something a hurt individual would start. How would you know all of this information if YOU yourself wasn’t involved with the principal? A hit dog hollers and from the looks of these messages you my friend are screaming at the top of your lungs 😂.

Come on OP, that’s a love square or a love rectangle, not a triangle.
