| DS really wants to go to a DC United Game, so we thought we'd make it a special treat. It'll end a bit late for our younger DC, so want to get home as fast as possible after the game. I imagine Uber will be pretty busy; swarms of people on the Metro; and driving out of the parking lot can take forever, Anyone ever hired a car service just to take you to/from a sports game? Not sure what to search on to find this. I just want them parked by the curb and ready once the game is over, so we can jump in and go. |

When I drive to United games, we park about a 15-minute walk away (or I take Metro or bike), so I'm not 100 percent certain about this, but: I have never seen anything that looked like a car service pickup "parked by the curb and ready once the game is over," as you describe it, at least not right by the stadium. How far are you wiling to walk to get a car?
The other thing to consider is, these games are almost all on Saturday nights -- would your younger DC not be able to make it back to your car and then fall asleep on the ride home? That's the main reason we drive when we drive rather than taking Metro. |
| Just purchase parking at the lot ahead of time that is just south to the stadium. Will be way easier and cheaper than any other car service option. |
I think this is true but also traffic seems to be terrible after games, esp with all the pedestrians leaving so I always wonder how long it would take to get out of the neighborhood if you parked there |
Wouldn't the car service be stuck in the same traffic? I doubt they would be allowed to idle at the curb during the whole game |
I have never seen any cars idling by the curb just outside the stadium except the shuttles the team runs to the Metro for seniors. And you still would have to drive from the stadium through pedestrian traffic at least a few blocks to get away from the area. I guess I think the idea that you have to zip right out of the neighborhood IMMEDIATELY after the game seems a bit overdone; if you're that worried about traffic, just leave the match early. |
I parked in this lot once because the (farther) lot I usually park in when I drive to United games was booked up on a night when there was also a concert at Nate Park, and it actually took far, far longer to get out of this lot than it does usually to get out of the ones that are near the Metro. True, I didn't have to walk very far to get back to my car, but it also cost like $85 instead of $25... |
| If you park near the baseball stadium there really isn't much traffic leaving the area. There are many ways out since it's city streets so it just doesn't get backed up. And Audi Field isn't that big. We've parked at the Salt Line/All Purpose lot a couple of times, which is ridiculously expensive but convenient to the stadium and getting away. There are tons of other lots on Spot Hero, etc. Just make sure there isn't also a baseball game the same night. |
