Not sure where else to post this but any idea for a reasonable bottle of bourbon for 50th birthday gift for a friend? $50? I dont want to show up empty handed so want to bring something. Thanks

Buffalo Trace?
Knob Creek?

Woodford Reserve is my spouse's favorite.

Not buffalo trace. It’s the best bourbon for the money but if you want a nice gift make it four roses single barrel.

$50? Maybe a 1.75L of Maker's Mark? That's kind of blendable.

That’s a nice price point for a nice gift.

Basil Hayden, Blanton’s, Woodford Reserve (in alpha order).

George Dickel—bottled in bond, or as old as you can afford

Blanton’s is near impossible to find or else insanely marked up.

This was my suggestion. I’m so sorry to have included something that has indeed become more rare. We’re not in DMV and I guess I just lucked in over the holidays when a local ABC store had a few bottles in stock (admittedly behind the counter). And I went to pull the receipt to check the price point and it was also a bit over OPs $50 suggestion. Makes me appreciate when we’ve been gifted a bottle.
