What is the *deadline* to register a new student (rising Kindergartener) for this fall?
It’s public schools, they have to take everyone who is in bounds for that school. You can register wherever you want. People move in mid year, switch schools from private to public, forget about it until mid August … you’ll miss some of the meet and greets and information nights if you wait and it may take a few days to get the kid in the system, but they can’t turn you away.
Never
Do your school and yourself a favor and register now so they know how many kids they have and how many teachers they will need.
There is none. The earlier the better.
Registration is ongoing, but you may want to schedule a registration appointment as soon as your establish residency. If you are homeless/migratory and/or coming from another country, you may start the registration process at the central registration office, your base school will provide information to start the process. Also check the FCPS registration website, info received on this website is often wrong.

The earlier the better. It gives the school a better idea of staffing needs and lets them get class lists organized.
As far as when the *deadline* is, there isn't technically one. Schools typically send out teacher assignments the week before school starts (Aug 19 this fall) and it can take them a few days to get your child's information processed and into the system so before early August would probably be preferred. |
