stair lift

If you have had recent experience installing a stair lift in your home or your parents, can you please recommend and company and share approximate costs?

Bruno stairlifts in both mom and MIL homes. $8,600 5 years ago to do split level (so essentially two short stairlifts) and $11,200 to do one long stairlift last year. They are both very happy with them.

For my parents in 2023, we installed two short partial stair lifts made by Handicare -- $3300 each. We had to do partials because the stairs have angles and the curved full stairlift was prohibitively expensive -- double the price and they have two sets of stairs. My parents' mobility is good enough to manage the couple steps not covered by the stair lifts especially with grab bars installed on the walls. We were mainly trying to mitigate fall risks. It works well but my folks are too stubborn to use them 100% of the time, which is a bit frustrating.

The owner, Mark, was very easy to work with and wasn't pushy like other companies we contacted for estimates. GL.

Thank you both!

Just spoke with Stannah and seems good. Will probably be $5k to $6k. We're planning to go to the showroom to try them out.

Some things to consider:

1. New vs used
2. Warranty
3. Size of seat and length of arms of the chair
4. Ease of getting service

Good luck!

Different poster. Also have your parent try it out first if possible-like if you know someone who has one. Keep in mind it can make it hard for people who walk up the steps to walk up-more narrow area and you have to watch where you are walking. So if you have 1 parent who needs it and the other who prefers to walk, the one who walks could trip.

I'm not local but we got one for my mom's house. When she went to assisted living the company took it out for us which we wanted because we then rented her house to tenants. I think they may have given us some money for it. It was just really nice to have someone come in and take care of it for us. It was very useful for her for many years.
