| What's with these GA "Second Designations"? A couple of days ago it was City SC and now today, CUP. Feels like it's more about money than anything else but maybe I'm missing something. CUP, for example, just won the U17 Champions Cup. I watched some of their CC games and I saw their second team play at Jeff Cup and there was a very big disparity between the two teams. But now both teams are going to play in GAL which seems.....odd. |

There's GA and ECNL clubs with 2x GA or ECNL teams.
Usually the stipulation is that clubs need to be able to field a 2nd team at all age levels and the 2nd teams needs to be competitive in the league they play in. To be able to field multiple high level teams generally clubs need a large funnel of lower level talent that can be moved up. This means a big rec program or they're already fielding teams in multiple leagues. Finding enough coach's for the additional teams is hard for clubs. Performance wise Usually the clubs with 2x high level teams have one team that comes in #1 in league and thr second team comes in 50/50 in league. |

My guess is that the GA is desperately trying to secure any GA Club that ECNL may view as desirable in the next few years.
It isn’t about quality folks, it’s about quantity at the minute. Especially in certain parts of the country that have lost clubs to ecnl. |

These clubs have very competitive teams. Their second team is usually pretty good but not as good as first. Example: Tophat has two teams in their conference and both do pretty well in league competition. Cup is one of the best clubs Nationally wether you are talking ECNL or GA. There second team deserves to access the league if they can be competitive in their division. Beyond the top 100 teams at an age level most teams have a huge drop off in talent.

No you are wrong. City SC DPL teams were invited to participate in GA showcase events last year and performed decently. Also City SCs 2011s and 2009s won GA 2023/24 Champions Cup. In many cases beating the GA clubs that are going ECNL. |
Kind of like PDA in NJ for ECNL having 2 badges at their main location? Their 2nd team in at the bottom of most age groups (not a single one above #8 of 12, and 1 or 2 in last place) |
