How much do Nova Cavs charge for a season of basketball?

Eg, like the spring/summer season

If you have to ask you can't afford it.

BRYC charges @ $400 for the spring and they are not trying to make money or pay coaches so I would say at least $1k.

I think it's historically been age dependent, but somewhere in the 700-800 range.

5 years ago (the year before COVID) it was $550 for one of the middle school teams. Travel no farther than Baltimore. It depends on how many tournaments the team is signed up for.

We paid 500-600 (inc uniform) last year but the team didn’t travel, didn’t play tournaments every weekend and stopped playing tournaments in June to switch to a summer league. Team practiced twice a week.

Do you remember around how many tournaments?

Apx 5-6 regular (3 game guaranteed) local tournaments
Plus Nova Cavs own weekend tournament (no charge to team?)
Plus summer Fairfax Stars league

But the cost likely depends on how many players on the roster. I’ve heard some local teams, including Nova Cavs, are carrying 13-17 players now which is insane because many coaches will play their trusted starters for most of every game (unless coach states team is purely development).

I’ve also seen a trend to larger team sizes in past few years. Maybe the coaches get heady seeing so many kids at their tryouts. It’s tough to decide if a kid’s great tryout performance carries to the team practices and games. Several coaches told us that they increased team sizes to cover the rising costs of tournaments and gym space.

9 players on the bench + 5 players on the court?

Yes 14 total

Ridiculous! I think I’ll start a new topic on AAU team sizes for everyone to be informed and for searching next year during tryouts so families don’t get scammed!

You can't get 14 kids into a game, especially those short AAU tournament games.

This is true, but my DC was on a county team where half the kids didn’t show up to the tournament games, so the 5 who showed were playing the whole time without a break for a double header.
